Kareena Kapoor didn’t begin her career with Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions, but she seems to be the producer’s favourite leading lady. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein which releases this week will be her fifth film for KJo and there are two more in the offing. A Dharma-Balaji co-production Badtameez Dil and Shuddhi with Hrithik Roshan. Which brings her count to more than KJo’s favourite Kajol who has done four films with him — Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, We Are Family and My Name is Khan.

The Dharma man is also very fond of the actress and considers her family. Talking about their association, he says, “I have known Bebo as a child as we both come from filmi families but I didn’t know her well till I met her at a media party when she was just 17. Kareena was standing like a super star in a corner. But even back then she had tremendous confidence. Her sister Karisma was a big star by then and Bebo didn’t have a single release but even then she was already a movie star in her head. If anybody could be Poo (her character in K3G) it was Kareena.

Kareena Kapoor may have added Khan to her name only recently, but she's long been a leading lady for almost every male Khan in Bollywood. Shah Rukh was among her earliest heroes in 2001's Asoka, she was Salman's heroine in the blockbuster Bodyguard (2011), husband Saif has been a frequent collaborator since 2008's Tashan, and Aamir and Kareena have given Bollywood the record-breaking 3 Idiots (2009) and the rule-breaking Talaash (2012). And Khan the youngest, Aamir's nephew Imran, has a place on the list as well with 2012 Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and the forthcoming Gori Tere Pyar Mein.

Not everyone applauded the Imran-Kareena formula when Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu released, describing the pairing as mismatched. Kareena, however, says otherwise. She told NDTV: "We're a likeable couple. Nobody who looks at us can say, we don't like them as a pair." Imran says that's because they have an "inherent comfort" together.

Kareena Kapoor dedicates 180 days for Karan Johar

Although BizAsia recently reported that a heroine for Karan Johar’s forthcoming production, ‘Shuddhi’, has not been finalised, reports are suggesting that Kareena Kapoor has already marked time in her schedule for the movie.

The film is rumoured to be bringing her back on screen with Hrithik Roshan and the project will be directed by Karan Malhotra who directed last year’s ‘Agneepath’. A trade source, according to TOI, has confirmed that Kapoor has indeed taken out 180 days for the movie.

The source also said that the project is likely to begin towards the end of this year. Keep checking BizAsia for more.
